HR LATAM Mining Recruitment is partnering with a leading global environmental,
engineering, and construction management consulting firm specializing in the
mining industry to identify and recruit a Tailings Dam Specialist with
experience in the construction and management of tailings storage facilities
(TSF) and tailings dams. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in
managing all aspects of tailings dam projects, from design and construction to
operation and maintenance.
This role
requires expertise in geotechnical engineering, water management, and
environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, construct, and manage tailings storage facilities and tailings
dams. - Conduct geotechnical assessments and stability analyses for tailings
dams. - Develop and implement tailings and water management plans.
- Monitor and manage tailings deposition using slurry and dry stack
methods. - Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations
and standards, including the Global Tailings Standard. - Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for
tailings facilities. - Oversee the construction and maintenance of diversion and outlet
works. - Implement soil stabilization and erosion control measures.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists to monitor and manage the
impact of tailings dams on local ecosystems. - Conduct on-site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with
engineering designs and safety protocols. - Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory compliance
and project records. - Provide consulting expertise in engineering and construction
management for tailings dam projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, or a related field. - Minimum of 10+ years of experience in tailings dam construction and
management. - Proven experience in managing tailings dam projects across diverse
geographical regions, particularly in South and Central America. - Experience working in a consulting firm
- Strong background in geotechnical engineering, water management, and
environmental compliance. - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging
environment. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and English
