A well-known and successful Florida based construction company is currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting project-specific financial reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, familiarity with construction-specific financial processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and collections. 
- 
Assist in job cost accounting, including tracking project budgets, costs, and profitability for construction projects. 
- 
Monitor and allocate costs to specific construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms and industry standards. 
- 
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 
- 
Support payroll processing, including prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll reporting for construction projects. 
- 
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for construction projects and overall company operations. 
- 
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial requirements. 
- 
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support for project bidding and cost estimation. 
- 
Participate in audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. 
- 
Maintain accurate records for fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and equipment costs related to construction activities. 
- 
Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management. 
Requirements
- 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
- 
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. 
- 
Knowledge of construction-specific accounting practices, such as job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and progress billing. 
- 
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300 Construction, or similar platforms). 
- 
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
- 
Experience with payroll processing and compliance with prevailing wage laws is a plus. 
- 
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. 
- 
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
- 
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. 
- 
Strong communication skills to collaborate with project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
- 
CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
