We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee ship repair and vessel construction projects in our client's dynamic maritime services company based in the Caribbean. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety at every stage.
The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, excellent leadership skills, and a track record of successfully delivering complex maritime projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the CEO on all ship repair activities and provide daily project updates.
- Prepare detailed project schedules and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate project activities, conduct regular project meetings, and maintain alignment with the overall schedule.
- Allocate resources, assign responsibilities to supervisors and foremen, and manage daily operations.
- Identify potential risks that could impact project timelines and work with the CEO to mitigate them immediately.
- Oversee contractors and coordinate co-activities onboard vessels.
- Approve material requisitions, monitor project costs, and ensure budget adherence.
- Address and resolve technical challenges in ship repair and construction processes.
- Work closely with the HSE Officer to enforce strict safety standards.
- Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to ensure projects meet client and company requirements.
- Conduct kick-off meetings with senior staff and stakeholders before project commencement to establish execution plans.
- Provide daily reports on man hours, equipment usage, and material consumption using tools like Excel and project management software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or a related field.
- Certifications in CAPM, PMP, or equivalent project management credentials.
- 4–5 years of experience in project management, ideally in the maritime, industrial, or ship repair sectors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and manage diverse teams.
- Excellent planning, reporting, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and advanced Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, quality assurance, and maritime operations.
