Plant Engineer (Maintenance Systems / Equipment Optimization / Technical Leadership) – Caribbean

Job Description

GateSource HR Caribbean Division is collaborating with a strategic client to recruit a Plant Engineer in the Caribbean, The primary objective of this position is to establish and uphold efficient preventative and condition-based maintenance frameworks to optimize the performance of plant machinery and equipment in a cost-effective manner. The Plant Engineer ensures operational continuity in the Bottling Hall by leading technical teams, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting production through strategic maintenance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the availability and control of spare parts and maintenance materials to support ongoing operations.
  • Recommend enhancements to the Departmental Manager regarding staffing, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
  • Contribute to the annual Bottling Hall budget by projecting departmental needs and resource requirements.
  • Design and manage equipment installations or system upgrades, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and vendor specifications.
  • Respond to equipment failures or urgent calls outside standard hours, following departmental guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including repair logs, equipment histories, and technical guides.
  • Assess and provide feedback on the performance of direct reports, suggesting improvements or corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect completed maintenance projects to confirm they meet predefined quality and performance criteria.
  • Promote adherence to safety and housekeeping protocols to maintain a tidy and secure workplace.
  • Pinpoint training requirements for Bottling Hall maintenance staff to boost their capabilities.
  • Verify that team members understand and follow company and departmental policies.
  • Authorize payments for invoices tied to repairs, modifications, installations, or construction work.
  • Minimize production downtime by keeping Bottling Hall machinery in reliable condition and coordinating timely repairs (in-house or external).
  • Play a key role in developing and sustaining a forward-thinking preventative and predictive maintenance plan for Bottling Hall equipment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to fulfill the role’s demands.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of three (3) years working in a similar role or environment.
  • Acceptable equivalent of education and hands-on experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and applicable technical tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and oversee teams effectively.
  • Competence in drafting and presenting clear, actionable reports.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Capacity to understand and work with technical manuals and documents.
  • Expertise in operating and diagnosing issues with machinery.
