Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Permitting Manager to join our client in a dynamic mining exploration project. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, obtaining necessary permits, and implementing sustainable practices for our mining exploration projects. This position requires a strong understanding of environmental management, regulatory requirements, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Stay informed about local and country environmental regulations for mining exploration.
  • Create and execute environmental management plans to comply with laws.
  • Conduct regular environmental assessments and audits, implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead the permitting process, preparing and submitting permit applications.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities to secure timely permit approvals.
  • Monitor permit conditions and ensure ongoing compliance throughout the project.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, government bodies, and local communities to address environmental concerns transparently.
  • Foster positive relationships with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise the preparation and submission of EIAs for evaluating environmental impacts.
  • Provide recommendations for mitigating risks and enhancing sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities for sustainable practices in mining exploration.
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems to minimize ecological impact.
  • Manage the budget for environmental and permitting activities, prioritizing cost-effective solutions while maintaining compliance.
  • Efficiently allocate resources to meet project timelines and objectives.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in environmental management and permitting for mining exploration projects.
  • Strong knowledge of local and country environmental regulations.
  • Prior experience working in South America preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to achieve environmental objectives.
  • Willingness to travel to site as needed
