We are seeking a skilled and experienced Open Pit Mining Engineer to join our gold mining operation in Western USA. This role is critical to the planning, design, and execution of our open pit mining projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the operations team to ensure efficient, safe, and profitable mining practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and plan open pit mining operations, including short-term and long-term mine planning.
- Conduct feasibility studies, resource modeling, and reserve estimation for open pit operations.
- Develop and implement mine safety protocols, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor and optimize open pit production processes to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Coordinate with geologists, metallurgists, and other technical staff to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare detailed reports on open pit mine operations, production performance, and cost analysis.
- Utilize mining software for design, planning, and analysis of open pit mining projects.
- Oversee drilling, blasting, and excavation activities in the open pit, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for open pit mining operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance in the open pit.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in open pit mining engineering, preferably in gold mining.
- Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, MineSight, or Vulcan.
- Strong understanding of mining regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with various stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
