As a Marine Service Technician, you’ll be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of boats, machinery, and trailers. You will bring your technical skills to diagnose and repair various systems to ensure the safety and functionality of the vessels. This is a hands-on role, requiring strong knowledge and experience in marine mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostics & Repairs:
Perform diagnostic tests and discuss the extent of damage or malfunctions with service advisors or customers.
Conduct repairs on a variety of marine systems, including engines, transmissions, generators, and water makers.
- Mechanical Repair Work:
Overhaul or replace critical components like carburetors, blowers, distributors, starters, and pumps.
Rebuild parts such as engine cylinder blocks and rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
Install and repair accessories like radios, heaters, and windshield wipers.
Use hydraulic jacks or hoists as necessary.
- Customer Communication & Advisory:
Inform customers and insurance adjusters about required repairs and anticipated costs.
- Repair Scheduling & Compliance:
Complete all work within the scheduled time, following both manufacturer and company guidelines.
Ensure warranty repairs meet both the manufacturer’s and company standards.
- Operational & Safety Standards:
Safely operate both company and customer vessels for water testing when necessary.
Maintain and properly care for company tools and equipment.
- Additional Duties:
Assist with any additional duties as assigned to support the service team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Marine Technician, particularly with air conditioning systems, engines, transmissions, and water makers.
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair a range of marine mechanical and electrical systems.
- Skilled in using tools and equipment associated with marine repairs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain repair needs to customers.
- Safety-oriented, with a focus on maintaining equipment in excellent condition.
