We are looking for an experienced Marine Machinist with expertise in marine propulsion systems and precision machining to support ship repair, drydock operations, and vessel construction projects.
This role is ideal for a skilled machinist who has worked on propulsion shafting, stern tube components, couplings, and other propulsion-related equipment and can perform high-precision machining in a shipyard or marine engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision machining of propulsion components such as propeller shafts, bushings, sleeves, bearings, and couplings
- Operate workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and drilling equipment
- Support shaftline repairs, stern tube works, and propulsion system installations
- Assist with alignment and fitting of propulsion components
- Repair and refurbish worn propulsion parts during vessel repairs and drydock periods
- Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining specifications
- Conduct measurement checks to ensure components meet required tolerances
- Work closely with propulsion specialists, mechanics, and engineering teams
- Maintain safe working practices and proper workshop procedures
Requirements
- Trade qualification or diploma
in Machining, Mechanical Engineering, or Marine Engineering - 5+ years experience in marine machining, shipyard
operations, or heavy mechanical environments - Strong experience working on marine
propulsion components - Ability to read and interpret technical
drawings and machining tolerances - Experience with precision
machining tools and measuring instruments - Shipyard or drydock experience
