HR Lead (Employee Engagement / Strategic Planning / Policy Development) – St. Maarten

Job Description

GateSource HR Caribbean Division is collaborating with a strategic client to hire an experienced and adaptable HR professional who excels at creating a people-centric environment to support the Human Resources function across country operations. This role will be a blend of strategic planning and hands-on administrative duties, ensuring the seamless operation of HR processes while contributing to the company's overall success. Key responsibilities include recruitment, policy development, employee engagement, and compliance, among other critical HR activities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and align the Human Resources department's activities with the company's strategic goals to support all divisions and departments.
  • Collaborate with the Country Station Manager and Accountant to draft and implement annual budgets, strategic plans, and key action items.
  • Spearhead recruitment efforts across all country entities to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures aligned with corporate vision and group standards.
  • Continuously propose and implement process improvements for greater efficiency in HR and overall company operations.
  • Facilitate employee engagement initiatives, including annual surveys, to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Implement programs to enhance the overall employee experience, focusing on wellness, health, and safety.
  • Monitor and address industrial relations developments to minimize and resolve disputes effectively.
  • Provide guidance and training to HR team members to elevate their performance and knowledge.
  • Lead employee communication efforts, ensuring consistent messaging and content dissemination across the organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management on employee relations, performance management, and daily HR concerns.
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and exit processes, ensuring data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise the preparation and timely submission of payroll-related data, including new hires, promotions, and terminations.
  • Manage and process claims related to benefits programs, such as medical, pension, and group life insurance.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and adherence to leave policies, promptly reporting any breaches.
  • Promote harmonious relations between management and staff, maintaining open communication with union representatives.
  • Participate in administrative meetings and provide regular feedback on departmental goals and results.
  • Ensure participation in training and appraisal processes recommended by the Group and Cluster.
  • Undertake additional HR assignments as directed by leadership.




  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus).
  • 8+ years of experience in human resources with a proven track record in leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural awareness and ethical integrity.
  • Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.); fluency in English is required, and Spanish is a bonus.
