We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of our client's maritime services company based in the Caribbean. With operations spanning dredging, shipyard management, and vessel construction, this role is pivotal in shaping the financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and driving operational excellence to support long-term growth.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial leadership within the maritime or industrial sectors, exceptional team management skills, and the ability to navigate the unique financial challenges of the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s maritime operations and long-term objectives.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the executive team and board of directors, focusing on managing risks and identifying growth opportunities.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and maritime industry standards.
- Monitor financial performance across dredging, shipyard, and vessel construction operations, ensuring budget alignment and operational efficiency.
- Manage financial risks, including currency fluctuations, capital investments, and cost optimization, within the maritime industry context.
- Establish robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial integrity.
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements while working closely with external auditors and authorities.
- Oversee cash flow management to ensure liquidity for day-to-day operations and large-scale projects.
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team that supports the company’s strategic initiatives and future expansion.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and regulatory bodies, to enhance financial relations and secure funding.
- Partner with operational teams to drive cost efficiencies and operational improvements across all divisions.
- Communicate financial performance and strategy to the CEO and other stakeholders, fostering transparency and accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA, CMA, or equivalent).
- At least 5 years of financial leadership experience, preferably in the maritime, industrial, or related sectors.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance in the Caribbean region.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP or similar).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
