As the Commercial Manager/Business Development Manager focused on dredging operations, you will drive the growth of the company’s dredging business across the country. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new dredging contracts, managing client relationships, and ensuring commercial success in capital dredging, maintenance dredging, reclamation, and related services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development plans specifically targeting dredging projects, including port deepening, navigational channel maintenance, land reclamation, and coastal protection.
- Identify, track, and prioritize dredging tenders and opportunities in both public and private sectors.
- Lead the preparation of bids and proposals for dredging works in coordination with technical, estimating, legal, and operational teams.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing structures, and commercial terms with clients, ensuring alignment with the company’s risk management policies.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with port authorities, maritime agencies, engineering consultants, and other key stakeholders involved in dredging.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity in the dredging sector.
- Support contract administration during project execution, including variations, claims, and commercial reporting.
- Represent the company at dredging and maritime industry conferences, workshops, and networking events.
- Contribute to the development of annual sales targets, budgets, and regional growth strategies for the dredging division.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in commercial management or business development, with a proven track record in dredging projects.
- Solid understanding of dredging techniques, equipment capabilities, and project delivery models.
- Experience with FIDIC or similar international contracting standards applied to marine infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success in winning and negotiating capital and maintenance dredging contracts, preferably in South America and the Caribbean.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills in English; Spanish, French and/or Portuguese fluency is a strong asset.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the region.
