We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Mechanic to support the management and execution of mechanical maintenance activities across mining, processing, and site infrastructure operations.

Working closely with senior maintenance leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of mobile equipment, fixed plant assets, workshops, and supporting infrastructure. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to contribute to operational excellence within a dynamic mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading and coordinating mechanical maintenance activities for mobile and fixed plant equipment.
  • Support daily workshop operations and maintenance planning activities.
  • Supervise mechanics, welders, lubrication technicians, and maintenance support personnel.
  • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Monitor equipment performance, reliability, and availability across mining and processing operations.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and support rapid troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
  • Oversee maintenance activities for:
    • Excavators
    • Bulldozers
    • Articulated dump trucks
    • Front-end loaders
    • Graders
    • Water trucks
    • Generators
    • Crushers and conveyors
    • Pumps and process plant equipment
    • Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) mechanical systems
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with manufacturer recommendations and operational standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance shutdowns, field repairs, and workshop repairs.
  • Support spare parts planning, inventory management, and maintenance material control.
  • Monitor maintenance records, equipment histories, inspections, and service schedules.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all maintenance and workshop safety requirements.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
  • Trade certification in heavy-duty equipment maintenance, diesel mechanics, or industrial mechanics is highly desirable.
  • Additional training in mining equipment maintenance, hydraulic systems, reliability engineering, or fixed plant maintenance would be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance within mining, construction, heavy industry, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining heavy mobile mining equipment and fixed plant machinery.
  • Experience supporting open-pit/open-cut mining operations is preferred.
  • Exposure to gold processing operations, including Gravity and/or Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) plants, is advantageous.
  • Previous supervisory or workshop leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in remote or camp-based operational environments is preferred.
