We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director to lead and oversee the strategic, operational, and financial performance of a growing business unit within the manufacturing and food production sector.
The Managing Director will be responsible for delivering sustainable growth, driving profitability, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards. This executive leadership role requires a strong strategic mindset, proven people leadership capabilities, and the ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the business unit’s strategic plan and growth initiatives.
- Define organizational objectives and ensure alignment across all functions.
- Establish effective governance, administrative processes, and operational policies.
- Identify opportunities for expansion, efficiency improvements, and long-term value creation.
- Business & Operational Management
- Lead the overall management of the business unit.
- Ensure effective execution of operational plans and business objectives.
- Design and implement efficient organizational structures and work processes.
- Monitor performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure adequate staffing, workforce planning, and succession management.
- Financial Management
- Own the business unit budget and financial performance.
- Monitor profitability, cost control, and resource allocation.
- Ensure financial targets are achieved while maintaining operational excellence.
- Drive initiatives that improve productivity and business performance.
- Leadership & People Development
- Lead, coach, and develop management and operational teams.
- Conduct performance management and talent development activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Promote employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain robust quality assurance systems and operational controls.
- Support initiatives that improve customer satisfaction and product quality.
- Lead audit readiness and compliance activities across the organization.
- Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
- Act as the primary ambassador and representative of the business unit.
- Address escalated customer concerns and support strategic business partnerships.
- Strengthen market presence and stakeholder confidence.
- Governance & Reporting
- Provide regular performance and business updates to senior leadership and shareholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of operational, financial, and compliance matters.
- Identify business risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support informed decision-making through data-driven reporting and analysis.
- Food Safety & Operational Authority
- Ensure food safety, quality, and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Exercise authority to halt operations where significant quality, safety, or compliance risks are identified.
- Drive a culture of accountability regarding product integrity and consumer safety.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related field. Additional executive leadership qualifications are advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience with full business unit, division, or company responsibility.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, operational management, and financial leadership.
- Experience within manufacturing, food production, FMCG, industrial, or related sectors is preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and driving business growth.
