Electrician (Marine Electrical Systems / Industrial Maintenance / Shipyard Operations) – Caribbean

We are looking for an Electrician who will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the company’s shipbuilding, ship repair, dredging, and maintenance operations. This position supports the reliability of vessels, facilities, production equipment, and electrical infrastructure by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and completing electrical installations in compliance with company and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems across vessels, shipyards, workshops, and operational facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, generators, switchboards, control panels, lighting systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and complete necessary repairs.
  • Install and modify wiring, conduits, distribution boards, circuit breakers, control panels, and electrical components.
  • Maintain and repair marine electrical systems, including vessel wiring, alarms, communication systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support shipbuilding and ship repair projects by performing electrical installations, inspections, rewiring, and equipment servicing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems on dredges, barges, tugboats, pumps, winches, generators, and other marine equipment.
  • Conduct electrical testing to verify system performance and ensure safe operation.
  • Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency repairs to minimize operational downtime.
  • Maintain maintenance records and ensure all work complies with electrical and marine safety standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to complete projects efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electrical Maintenance, Marine Electrical Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical maintenance experience in marine, shipyard, dredging, port, industrial, construction, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motors, generators, wiring, lighting systems, control panels, circuit breakers, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Experience with marine electrical systems, shipboard wiring, switchboards, generators, alarms, pumps, winches, and auxiliary equipment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, motor starters, sensors, control panels, alarms, and communication or navigation support systems is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, permit-to-work systems, and the safe use of electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure during equipment failures, vessel operations, shipbuilding projects, and maintenance shutdowns.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, shifts, and emergency call-outs when operationally required.
