We are looking for a Mine Director, responsible for the overall leadership, management, coordination, and performance of mining and mineral processing operations. This role oversees mining production, processing plant operations, operational planning, technical departments, workforce management, and operational compliance to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of mining activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for mining and mineral processing operations.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of operational departments, technical units, and production teams to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted mining operations.
- Oversee open pit mining activities, including ore production
- Ensure effective collaboration between Mining, Geology, Processing Plant, Laboratory, Maintenance, and Support Departments to achieve operational and production targets.
- Direct and monitor operational performance to maximize productivity, operational efficiency, and production output while maintaining cost control.
- Ensure the successful execution of approved mine plans, production schedules, operational strategies, and business objectives.
- Oversee operational budgeting, manpower planning, resource allocation, and cost-control initiatives related to mining and processing operations.
- Ensure compliance with production targets, operational plans, commercial obligations, and contractual commitments.
- Support the implementation of operational improvements, modernization initiatives, and productivity enhancement programs across mining and processing operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in senior managerial or operational leadership roles within the mining industry.
- Experience managing open pit mining and/or gold processing operations.
- Experience working with Gravity and/or Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) processing systems.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary operational and technical teams.
- Experience working in remote or interior mining operations is preferred.
- Experience in operational budgeting, production management, and business coordination is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Geology, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Mining, Engineering, Business Management, or Operations Management would be an asset.
- Additional training in mining operations management, production planning, occupational safety, or industrial leadership is advantageous.
